Rural Visit
to Keliya Vasna Village
On 16th September 2022, Sem-9 Marketing specialization students visited the village Keliya Vasna accompanied by Asst. Prof. Hardik Solanki for better understanding of Rural Marketing practices.
About Keliya Vasna Village:
Keliya Vasna is a village located in Dholka Taluka of Ahmadabad district, Gujarat with total 1800 families residing. As per constitution of India and Panchyati Raaj Act, Keliya Vasna village is administrated by Sarpanch (Head of Village) who is elected representative of village. The Vasna Keliya village has population of 5776 of which 2977 are males while 2799 are females as per the data provided by Ms. Hiral Patel, the first lady and youngest sarpanch of the Village. The village has a Primary Health Centre, State Bank Of India, Cooperative Bank, Post Office and two schools including primary secondary and higher secondary education. Sarawasti Vidhya Mandir is Grant-in-aid schools managed by trust and another is smart school by Government. The village has Thakor and Patel community majorly. There was a lot of dirt in village due to overflow of pond because of heavy rains this year. Keliya Vasna has.
About Visit:
The Sarpanch welcomed warmly when we entered in the village. Then visited Saraswati Vidya Mandir with her when students were preparing for National Games. LJIMBA Students also tried the Tug of War against school teams but unfortunately, they lost twice. Kohinoor Tanwani performed the monologue in front of the school followed by a monologue performed by a school girl was appreciable. Marasim Sheikh and Kanchi Joshi delivered the speech to motivate the students for education and participation in games for the growth and development. Ass. Prof. Hardik Solanki delivered motivational speech followed by the vote of thanks.
Ms. Hiral Patel, then, took us to government school where all the students enjoyed a lot with small kids by reciting the nursery poems. School principal provided a brief of Mid-day meal scheme. The office of Sarpanch, Panchayat Ghar, also visited where Sarpanch madam briefed about the several rural development schemes of Satate and central government. The future developmental schemes including Waste Management, Door-to-door Garbage Collection and Pakka Road with paver blocks were discussed.
Learnings:
Students explored the various concepts of Rural Marketing including Economic Structure Rural Environment, Infrastructure, Rural Consumer Behaviour, Agriculture, Distribution models, Communication strategies, Banking and health care services in rural markets.
Few Memories of the Visit:
LJIMBA Students also tried the Tug of War against school teams. The girl team fought very nicely. At Government school all the students enjoyed a lot with small kids by reciting the nursery poems. The pot lunch was much memorable.
