PIILLS: An Interactive Session on Stress and Stress Management Strategies
Since the month of April is observed as National Stress Awareness Month, with the goal of emphasizing the harmful consequences of stress and encouraging individuals to adopt coping strategies, L.J. Institute of Pharmacy organized an “Interactive session on stress and stress management strategies” on April 25, 2023. About 78 students and 15 faculty members of the college attended the session which was delivered by renowned Corporate Psychologist and Counsellor, Ms. Nishi Shah, who provided valuable insights and tips to the participants on how to manage stress and maintain a healthy work-life balance. The session began with Ms. Shah discussing the various causes of stress, such as academic pressure, personal issues, and societal expectations. She then went on to explain the various physical and emotional symptoms of stress, such as fatigue, irritability, and anxiety. Ms. Shah emphasized the importance of recognizing these symptoms and taking action to manage stress before it becomes chronic. Ms. Shah also provided the students with various stress management techniques, such as meditation, deep breathing exercises, and physical activities like yoga and sports. She encouraged the students to incorporate these techniques into their daily routine and make them a part of their lifestyle to maintain their mental and physical well-being.
Ms. Shah, during her session, asked students and faculty members to rate their stress levels and participate in an activity using balloons and chits to relieve stress. She emphasized that individuals are solely responsible for managing their stress and finding ways to cope with it.
The session was highly interactive, with attendees actively participating in discussions and sharing their own experiences of stress and how they manage it. Overall, the interactive session on stress and stress management strategies was a huge success, with the students leaving the session feeling empowered and equipped with effective tools to manage stress and lead a healthy life.
