Guidence for Career at MCPHS
L.J College of Pharmacy has organized the informative session with Masachusetts College of Pharmacy and HealthSciences which was on 24th of April, where students can get information for studying overseas. Four speakers were invited to have this session named Dr. Stephen Kerr, Assistant Provost for International Affairs, Ms Janice Tsang, Associate Director International Admission, Mr. Aakash Bablani, Senior Recruitment Advisor and Ms Anushka Sharma, Enrollment Advisor.
Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences (MCPHS) is a private university focused on health- and life-sciences education, with campuses in Boston, Massachusetts, Worcester, Massachusetts, and Manchester, New Hampshire, as well as online programs. The university provides traditional and accelerated programs of study focused on professional education in pharmacy and the health sciences. The university will complete 200 years in December 2023. It offers approximately 80 programs in the field of Pharmacy and Healthcare science.
The session was started by Dr. Stephen Kerr, who is working in Healthcare segment since last 30 years. His core was Medicinal Chemistry so he presented some of the basics of Medcinal Chemsitry by explaining that how can one predict pharmcokinetic profile simply by the structure of a drug. He explained the absorption, distribution, metabolism and excretion properties of drug Ibuprofen.
He further explained lipophilicity, pH, dissociation constant, pKa value, pathways of metabolism and different functional groups present in the structure of Ibuprofen. He talked about that how distribution of Ibuprofen in stomach occurs, and not in any other part of GI tract. He concluded his session by an interactive chat with te students.
Mr. Aakash Bablani who represented MCPHS as a Senior Recruitment Advisor gave a little brief knowledge on the programs offered by MCPHS, the admission critera, tution fees and scholarships.
Lastly, the session was ended by clearing some of the doubts asked by students to the respected speakers.
Overall, the visit from MCPHS was a great learing experinec and offered a platform to deepen our understanding of healthcare careers. The knowledge gained from this will undoubtedly benefit our students in their future endeavours.
