Brief Summary  

As a part of the curriculum in Semester 1, IMBA program, the students attended a 10- day workshop of general electives. This is  1 - credit course with student engagement of  15  hours  and more .

Understanding about  acceptable behaviour in a corporate setting, the way  we  usually behave in a social setting is  actually not  a pleasing behaviour in a corporate world.

Graphic Designing  

Mr. Sahil Khan, (Graphic Designer)  

Learn to create posters, info graphics, book covers, product labels,  banners  and business cards. Helped in coordinating with the end users and generating a strong brand image.

French  

Mr.  Sonal  Singh  (F rench Lecturer )  

Learning French to speak and write effectively involves developing  linguistic  proficiency  — encompassing vocabulary, grammar, pronunciation, and sentence construction. It focuses on building  communicative competence , enabling  learners to express ideas confidently in real-life situations. This holistic l earning  approach nurtures both  spoken fluency and written accuracy   in  French.

Personal Styling

Understanding  how clothes  and accessories  speaks’ about ones’ personality and what one can do with existing wardrobe or buying smartly to refresh ones’ look.

Developing an ability to communicate inner thoughts, build confidence, enhance co-ordination and observations skills, understand and  analyze  people,  situations  and context.

Voice Over  

Ms.  Bhargavi   Buddhadev  (Voice artist)   

Understanding of the importance of tone, clarity, and expression in effective communication.  Consistent practice,  leads to the art of  modulating voice   according to different contexts, audiences, and messages. This has enhanced confidence articulation, and presentation skills ,  and the role of voice in influencing  perception  and audience engagement.  

 

Objectives  

Incipience is a platform given to the first-year students   

  • To learn new skills besides academics to pursue their passion and an opportunity for alternative career choices.   

  • To enhance confidence and presentation skills to large audiences  

  • To enhance planning and coordination skills  

  • To build communicative competence and understand applications in real life situations.  

 

Process  

Sem 1 Students are offered  one  credit elective  workshops  of 15 hrs . The electives offered to Batch 2025 were Corporate Etiquettes, French, Graphic Designing, Theatre, Voice Over and Personal Styling. Students chose an elective of their choice. This workshop spans over continuous 10 days for 1.5 hours each day   At the end of the workshop,  the students were evaluated. The learnings of the workshop were  showcased  to their peer group through  Incipience: The Exhibition in the morning. This event gives students a platform to  demonstrate  and share  learnings  with their peer group . In the afternoon, students performed the learnings and applications in real life situations to explain the significance of each skill in one’s daily life.

Outcomes  

  1. 1. Holistic Skill and Personality Development:  
    Students  acquired  exposure to creative and professional skill domains beyond classroom learning, helping them  identify  personal interests and explore  alternative career pathways  alongside their core management education.  

  1. 2. Applied Understanding of Management Concepts:  
    The workshops enabled students to   apply foundational management concepts  such as planning, coordination, teamwork, and communication in real-world tasks, thereby strengthening the integration of  theory with practice .  

  1. 3. Confidence, Expression, and Presentation Skills:  
    Through hands-on participation in  theatre and voice-over workshops , students  developed greater confidence, stage presence, and vocal modulation, enhancing their  public speaking and interpersonal communication  abilities—essential traits for future managers.  

  1. 4. Professional and Corporate Readiness:  
    The  Corporate Etiquettes   and   Personal Styling  workshops cultivated awareness of professional conduct, grooming, and self-presentation, preparing students for  corporate interactions, interviews, and networking environments .  

  1. 5. Creative and Visual Communication Competence:  
    The  Graphic Designing  module equipped students with fundamental design thinking and visual communication skills, improving their ability to  create impactful business presentations, marketing collaterals, and digital content .  

  1. 6. Cultural and Linguistic Enrichment:  
    Through the  French Language  workshop, students developed  basic communicative competence —including vocabulary, pronunciation, and sentence formation—thereby enhancing cross-cultural understanding and  global readiness , in line with NEP 2020’s multilingual emphasis.  

  1. 7. Collaborative and Managerial Coordination Skills:  
    All workshops required collaborative work and peer learning, helping students build  coordination, planning, and leadership skills  through task execution and group-based projects.  

  1. 8. Preparation for Future Management Roles:  
    Collectively, these workshops fostered a  multidimensional learning environment  where creativity met managerial thinking, empowering students to view management not just as a discipline but as a  lived, applied skillset  ready for diverse professional contexts.
