The Annual Research Report 2025-26 reflects LJ University’s continued journey towards establishing itself as a research-driven teaching university. Over the year, research at LJ University has continued to grow not as a separate academic activity, but as an integral part of teaching, learning and institutional development. The progress documented in this report is the result of sustained efforts by our faculty, researchers, scholars and academic leadership.

This year, LJ University recorded 131 research outputs, comprising 92 research articles, 35 book chapters, 3 case studies and 1 edited book. The publications span recognised indexing and quality categories including Scopus, Web of Science, ABDC and ABS, reflecting the University’s growing engagement with national and international research platforms.

Research at LJ University has also expanded beyond publications. The year witnessed continued work in intellectual property, with patents and registered designs, alongside research incentives amounting to ₹15.68 lakh. These efforts reflect the University’s intent to recognise research not only through publications, but also through innovation and tangible academic contributions.

An important part of this journey has been the creation of opportunities for researchers to learn, collaborate and engage. During the year, LJ University organised international conferences, workshops, seminars, expert sessions and faculty development programmes. The Directorate of Research also introduced and strengthened initiatives such as research writing workshops, the Annual Research Awards, Case Study Workshop 2.0, PROPEL 2026, the Annual Ph.D. Guide Meet Series and DoR Confluence 2026.

The year also brought recognition to the University’s research community. The Annual Research Awards 2025-26 recognised the University’s World’s Top 2% Scientists and outstanding researchers, acknowledging the contributions of faculty who continue to strengthen LJ University’s research profile.

For me, the most meaningful aspect of this report is not any single number or achievement, but the consistency of the effort. Research culture is built gradually, through better processes, stronger mentorship, greater participation and a growing willingness to ask meaningful questions. The progress at LJ University reflects this gradual strengthening of the research ecosystem.

As we look ahead, our focus remains on building an environment where good teaching and meaningful research reinforce each other. The journey towards becoming a research-driven teaching university is continuous, and this report captures another important year in that journey.

The year 2024-25 has been a remarkable period in the journey of LJ University toward becoming a truly research-driven teaching institution. Our faculty and students have demonstrated outstanding commitment and achieved significant milestones, marking a new high in scholarly productivity and innovation.

Over the course of this year, the University recorded 74 research publications indexed in reputed databases like Scopus, ABDC, and Web of Science, covering diverse fields from pharmacy and engineering to management and applied sciences. Notably, the Schools of Pharmacy, Management, Engineering, and Applied Sciences led this progress, together contributing the majority of high-quality research outputs. Encouragingly, several faculty members achieved multiple publications, with four publishing five papers each and eleven publishing three papers each.

Recognizing these scholarly contributions, the University disbursed a total of ₹10.33 lakh in research incentives across schools, fostering a culture that values rigorous academic work and motivates further exploration.

Innovation remains a core focus. Through our dedicated incubation centre, 20 startups reached maturity and received funding support, while seven additional student startups were supported at the pre-incubation stage. The incubator's efforts yielded a total fund of approximately ₹1.62 crore, highlighting LJ University's role as a catalyst for entrepreneurship and real-world impact. This was complemented by the university's drive to sensitize over 6,000 students to entrepreneurship, equipping the next generation with the tools to innovate and lead.

The year was further distinguished by the grant of eight new patents, underscoring the practical outcomes of our research endeavours. Substantial funds were also made available to promising student projects, with ₹17 lakh awarded to 16 innovative student-led initiatives.

Across disciplines, our researchers participated actively in knowledge dissemination, with the organisation of five national and international conferences and six focused workshops, creating vibrant platforms for exchange and capacity building.

The University remains steadfast in pursuing its goal of fostering an environment where each faculty member averages at least two research publications annually, and where academic rigor translates seamlessly into societal benefit.

The LJ University Annual Research Report 2023-2024 encapsulates a remarkable year marked by outstanding achievements and a steadfast commitment to research excellence. At the heart of this success is our pioneering Scheme for Promoting Research Among Faculty Members and Students, a policy that distinguishes LJ University from other institutions. This initiative provides comprehensive support for securing research grants, attending prestigious conferences, and recognizing scholarly achievements with incentives and awards.

This year, the university proudly celebrated 98 faculty publications in esteemed journals indexed by Scopus and Web of Science, showcasing a profound dedication to academic excellence. Faculty contributions included 57 research papers, 19 case studies, 14 book chapters, and 8 conference proceedings, enriching a diverse array of academic fields.

The report details research incentives totaling ₹10,26,901, with the L.J. Institute of Pharmacy and L.J. Institute of Management Studies receiving the highest awards. This financial support underscores the university’s commitment to nurturing a thriving research environment.

Our top initiative this year includes a monthly research newsletter that is emailed to every member of the LJ community. This newsletter celebrates each publication and serves as a networking platform, fostering inter and multidisciplinary research by connecting faculty, students, and researchers across various fields.

Innovation took center stage with the incubation and funding of 26 matured startups, alongside 39 student startups in the preincubation phase. A total of ₹1.695 crore was raised to support these ventures, positioning the university as a catalyst for innovation. Events such as Start-up Week 24x7, featuring 18 teams and 58 members, and Sharkteen Season 4.0, where three startups secured funding, highlight our dynamic entrepreneurial spirit. The Women Investing in Women 2.0 event attracted over 600 participants, emphasizing our dedication to inclusivity and empowerment.

The university's successful collaboration with government schemes resulted in managing ₹2,87,50,000 from central government sources and ₹10,00,000 from state initiatives. Conferences across various schools drew hundreds of attendees, promoting knowledge exchange and collaborative opportunities.

Our faculty's notable research publications span high-impact journals, addressing topics from sustainable vegan diets to machine learning applications. Additionally, patents were granted for innovative solutions such as an IoT-based sustainable water disinfection system, further enhancing our academic standing.

These accomplishments have significantly bolstered LJ University's reputation in the academic and research communities, setting the stage for future growth and contributions to societal development. Our commitment to driving excellence and fostering innovation remains unwavering.
